Norfolk Southern's busy, former Wabash main line across Illinois from Danville to Decatur (and eventually St Louis) has undergone upgrades, and old infrastructure like this US&S searchlight signal have been cast aside. It dates to the Wabash era, and sits here in the weeds at Tolono, Illinois.

Yipes! I hope this one has been here a while, maybe from the replacement of the signals at Vance over by Homer.
The searchlights at either end of the double track at Tolono (Dawn and Martin) had been recently repainted when I was up there a few weeks ago. Which on the railroad seems to be a sure sign of impending demise.
