Hmm, As shown here, I would consider it to be a rear engine.. not mid.
Discovery! I have seen that engine before!! I remember the top mounted fan with the belt turning 90* running over the alternator pully! I was wondering what car that was in.. now I know.

The term "mid-engine" is generally used to describe cars where the engine is behind the driver, but in front of the rear axle, as opposed to rear engine cars like the Corvair and the original Beetle, where the engine sits behind the rear axle. The idea is that this one uses the sideways mounted engine and transmission found in most small FWD cars, which is a pretty compact layout.
