I first started talking/thinking about making Kanuk almost two years ago, but lost the self esteem to do so. I was highly unconfident in my own abilities to do it. And to a degree, still am. But I won't know until I try.
So...Kanuk has finally been designed for the most part, his over all design may change while in creation. Granted it'll be some time before I have time to work on him (Don't worry commissioners, your stuff comes first and foremost <3) but I do hope to get time to work on him soon. Maybe work on him during my "day off" as I try to take one day off a week from sewing like mad just so I don't drive myself insane.
Kanuk is going to be as realistic as I can possibly manage. I have no airbrush at my disposal, so if he gets any paint work it'll all be done by hand. *unrolls huge set of brushes* I have the tools/knowledge to do so, so if I feel necissary, they'll be used.
Kanuk will double as cosplay if/when I get to take him to conventions, as I'll be making a set of armor for him. That'll be a surprise as to who/what he'll be cosplayed as though ;) Or even if I deside to do it afterall.
He'll be full of firsts for me, even if a quadsuit in itself is a first for me. He'll double as a bipedal suit, for the forelegs will be interchangeable with armsleeves so that I can walk on two or four, which ever I choose. It will come in great handy when taking him to events or crowded convention halls. His pawpads will be sculpted by hand and then cast in latex, another first for me. And I gotta admit, I'm really intimdated by it @_@
Not pictured here is the custom necklace he'll have, featuring a carved bear charm/bead either out of agate or bone, which ever bid war I happen to win over on ebay *facepalm*. I was originally going to go with claw/fang beads between spacers, but thougth better of it as I don't want parents being angry at me because their child put out their eye on one of the charms. So instead, my dearest friend and e-sister E-quahlo (deviantART) purchased some carved bone beads shaped like fish. How appropriate for a big o'l bear?! I'm as excited about his necklace as I am the suit itself.
Been working on this off and on between commission work, and a little bit today as a birthday pressent to myself. Might get the nose and claws from Monoyasha, not sure if I could get the claws she makes to come to a "point" as they do on the foot reference I put above. My buddy Khrests helped with the lines of Kanuk's reference art, rest is done by me.
Kanuk is MINE. This art is MINE. You steal/trace/copy, I WILL find you >_0
