Some grammatical and tense issues, but overall, well done.
The general theme of an induction of some alien element via portal that runs amuck is probably a cliche nowadays - from Orcs coming to Azeroth to Hellboy coming to Earth, we've seen a lot of this scenario.
The alternative is of course high fantasy, where you make everything up, not needing to introduce corruption but perhaps note milestones in the evolution of corruption and virtue.
