Vera La Tiérra has a sad secret, something that only a few other people in Puerto Rico know for certain: her mother struggles with alcohol and hurt Vera so deeply in a drunken fit that the vixen hasn't spoken to her mother in nearly six years.

She found she trusted her teammate Leonard Mack enough to confide the secret with him, even after he inadvertently upset her. She found she could confide in the big fox and trust him.

She later realized that was born out of a genuine love for him...
