I always wonder how in future aliens wars the humans are always evenly matched? From now to then did aliens kinda give up on trying to improve their technology? For that matter, how can the Enterprise be one of the most advanced ships in the universe when the Federation has only existed for a 100 years compared to a 1000 year old space fairing warring culture? I never seen any middle ages warship pose a threat to a modern day navy battleship, c'mon!

You go a thousand years back and their technology is the same, hell, the ships even look the same. So you have a galactic federation of aliens that are going no where new with there tech.
