Magnificent light

I love the look of dark colored wolves with bright colored eyes. Its like those eyes can pierce right into our souls with that gaze. Such lovely lighting. You inspire me to keep trying hard at digitial painting :)

There is one bit of this picture that really just does it for me, and that's the way the light falls through the wolf's left cheekruff. I just... I just drool. So gorgeous!

Oddly though... and I hope I'm alone in this, because I recognise the work as a masterful piece... but for some reason it isn't grabbing me the way I think it ought to, and I wish wish wish I could articulate why. It should give me a deep visceral shock, it should make the wolf in me sit bolt upright and stare right back, but... somehow it doesn't quite hit that nerve.

Dammit, I'm a lousy art critic. *whine*
