Behold, my first true character of the Carchar'octodont race. His name is Maelstrom.

A fairly young male in his prime, Maelstrom is a ferocious warrior, one of the best in his Cove. Unlike other young upstarts, though, he has yet to take a female, seeming to prefer the company of his trident and the open ocean over that of a female in his Cove, other than his mother, who he is devoted to. His place in his Cove is unstable as a population swell begins to make the leadership spread thin, so he and other males, even those older, are fiercely competitive to prove themselves as invaluable hunters and guardians.
