I saw a version of these two humanized today that, while being an excellent picture, didn't strike me as good character design. The human versions were both caucasian young pretty boys lacking the personalities of the original characters, not to mention facial build. Scar didn't even have his scar.
So, in the same vein as Shoomlah's historically accurate princess dress series, I humanized Scar and Mufasa to reflect a time period and story that might match the tale if it had been about humans.
Scar is the half-brother of Masai tribe leader Mufasa. Mufasa signed a treaty years ago that prevented British imperialists (hyenas) from taking over his lands, however the contract is null and void if he passes on without a legitimate heir. Scar wants the colonialists to move into Masai territory in exchange for power and prestige. He believes his mixed race status will keep the Brits from inflicting the worst of their rule upon him. All in exchange for the enslavement of his people and decimation of his land.
He was very wrong.

Oh wow, this is pretty amazing, and as a long time fan I find your interpretation perfectly acceptable. It's dynamic, interesting - it brings the two worlds together in a fairly be;believable way. I would not be disappointed to see you do more of a series of the various characters... but I also totally understand that sometimes these sorts of things are just a one time shot and then you're done. ANYWAY. Good job.
Having actually watched the Lion King recently I can say that what you are suggesting would be a lot more interesting and enjoyable plot. I don't hate the Lion King, it's just as an adult I notice more of it's flaws then I did as a kid. But that's probably true of a lot of things.
Oh those are spectacular humanizations of them! I've never understood why everybody goes the "white prettyboy" route whenever they humanize characters like these. Much like I never understood why everybody always makes Scar this massively muscular beefcake when they anthropomorphize him. e_e
