when we did the art Jam on Storm-Artis.net, I drew paper dolls of Harris and Jason because I was drawing paper dolls of the art jam pictures [I didn't ever scan those, so I didn't post them] and Aubyn LOVED the picture Bluepheonix did of Marrisyl and Jason and Harris sleeping.
recently, Aubyn decided she wanted to play with those 2 paper dolls, and we ended up making several more Destiny of Dreams paper dolls, mostly the animals because those are her favorite characters.
so, in playing out the story with paperdolls, I had this image in my mind of Marrisyl hanging down like this over someone's face to look them in the eyes, so I made this sketch, and it's been sitting in my office for a week or so. today I was cleaning and decided to scan it, and since it was scanned, I decided to post it, but nobody even glances at pencil sketches on this site most of the time, because they look like vague grey rectangles in the thumbnail, so I decided to color it.
My latest style of very quick photoshop coloring [yeah..what I call very quick probably takes mw longer than real coloring for most of you guys, but quick for me, anyhow]
I selected the white page, reversed the selection, and cut and pasted the pencil from the scan to another layer. I darkened it as much as possible.--- copied that, erased all of Harris in the copy and changed the color of the lines of Marrisyl----colored in the face and the critter in plain flat colors, each on a seperate layer and changed the opacity til it looked dark or light enough --- then I erased their eyes and drew them colored eyes on another layer. and filled the backrgound with a random color.
I think that's about it.
I am pleased with this method of just throwing some color onto a pencil sketch. I want to learn how to figure out where to out highlights. I think that would be a good next step for coloring Paragangians.
