This is the beginning of the book. Meet Sol, a teenage black wolf with issues. Oh, so many issues.
In the book, the excerpts from the book he's reading will be in a different font. I couldn't really do that here, so it's just set off as a separate paragraph.

I got kinda confused there.. the moment he sees the list of books from his classmate, the moment he buys the book online, and the moment he opens the book in his room to start reading seem to happen at the same time, in the span of one afternoon. The way it was worded made the time frame hard to discern..
Every time I pick up another sample of your work, I experience so many feelings.
I know that's not very descriptive, but I'm not sure how else to describe the sensation. I'm inundated with memories leaking out from old graves I buried them in so many years ago; the ghosts of old scars tattoo themselves into the surface of my mind once again like hot iron brands. For a while it's just me and your words, and the stories that unfold are old stories I've heard before - new stories I've needed to hear.
I'm left wistful and empty, but confident and full. It's painful, but it's a good, cathartic sort of pain. I wouldn't give it up for anything.
Thank you for writing, Kyell.

This was a great book! It made me laugh a little and cry a little towards the end. But all in all fantastic! I've got all of your novels and this one was by far one of my favorites! I really hope you'll do a sequel to this as I felt the story was far from over. Oh and I loved Nikki! He was one of my favorite charcters you've ever written about. So sad though...
I just finished reading the entire book after purchasing it from my first convention at Califur. I know my friends tried pressuring me into drinking absinthe while reading it to it's full effect. And as much as I believe that they could be true, that there would be a bit more than I desired if I accepted it, I'm at least glad to say I didn't need it to read this book.
It's simply wonderful, and well written. I applaud you Sir Gold. This has definitely been a well invested buy.
AND OH LORD THE ENDING AND THE DRAMA AND AGDHSGSGsfdsafdsgd so juicy.

I knew I'd like this just from this excerpt. And now that I've read it, I have to say, it's one of my favourite stories from you yet. It was just so emotionally involving. I was really rooting for Sol the whole way through. This is definitely one I need to read again.
(btw I write some more about it here.)

Picked up this audiobook on audible a few days ago and I know I'm waaaaaaay late but this story really touched me! I loved it, connected with the struggles Sol has with family and their expectations, coming out and such and felt so bad for Nickki! (If I'm spelling that correctly).
Absolutely a masterpiece, thank you Kyell for your masterful storytelling and sharing your talent!
