I'm pretty sure that is .22 caliber rimfire ammunition, but it is Russian made. Sometimes Russian will have "5.6mm" on the box, but it is the same use as .22lr in America. You can find the same rounds in America, exported from Russia, but they are marked "Junior" and are in a lime green box. They have not done so well on the American markets, unlike "Wolf" and "Bear" and even the ammunition from Tula, which are very popular here. The "Junior" stuff had a lot of malfunctions, but it had the same grey shell casing and the same "Л" on it, they and "Wolf" are the only two Russian companies I know of that produce rimfire cartidges. But, I dont really know, I'm only going off the picture and the Л.
I'm really interested to see the pistol! I have a few Russian pistols, but they all use centerfire ammunition.
