Mai Thomas (A.K.A. Missy Morte) never had to question what she was going to do with her life. She had her dream job writing for an independent magazine that covered Milwaukee’s “Goth” scene, she has her fiancee’ of 8 years, and she has her masters in English. What more could a girl ask for?

On Mai’s 34th birthday her world came to a screeching halt as she received news that the magazine is going bankrupt, her fiancee’ has discovered that he is more interested in men, and that masters in English? Well, it’s not going to be much help now is it?

Crushed, depressed, and lamenting, Mai’s sister lifts her spirits by getting her an opportunity to write a pilot for a new television show staring a cast of onslaught of Gothic misfits. With high hopes, Mai makes her way to California for one last chance of stardom.

After a night brainstorming and fun, Mai and her sister write 2 scripts. One that is the pilot script and the other a crackpot mock script. Her sister submits the script and Mai begins to play the waiting game.

Having some fun shopping and seeing all there is to see in southern California, Mai receives a phone call from the studio exec telling her that they loved her script. Over the moon with joy Mai, begins to blather on about how excited she is to work for this show…

That is until she realizes that the studio accepted the mock script.

In a flash Mai goes in to despair and anger where she is then hit by a car…no scratch that…make that a funeral precession.

Poor Mai, mangled and in a coma now floats some where in limbo.

Where she meets the very last things she created…the characters from her mock script…

and this would be where the real fun begins. :3
