but then again I just love blue makeup XD
*I thought it was red though...derp
my husband stranger says he can offer to give you some links and tips for doing eye make-up as well. he's really good at it!
the red blends a bit better against your warmer tones and looks great tooo
its hard to choose.
Love the hair, too!
I suppose I appreciate the honesty, but I found the comment to be upsetting just to say
everyone has their own take and tastes in fashion/appearances, and this is what I feel happy with
I get the impression that you think I should be more subtle in looks, but as I said some of my tastes just happen to fall under being 'garish' I suppose
I'll elaborate: my girlfriend has several of those multi-colour intense makeup kits that she puts together, and we're talking the cheap, billion colour sets you see girls using in the backs of schoolbuses. She pulls off the colours famously, and it's because she always uses colour harmonies on her face and coordinates outfits and accessories. She's more apt to pulling off intense colours with her dark skin.
Now, if YOU want to pull of this kind of look, you'll need more than just the eyeshadow. The reason it looks garish is because it exists to seemingly be different for the sake of being different, which is (in my experience in art, at least) a bad idea. Alone it means nothing. Does this mean you should throw this colour away, or never attempt it again? Hell no! You just gotta do it justice. It's the difference between doing garish and showing garish in a way that looks wonderful, and maybe surreal.
I know you're just doing a quick demo of this on FA, so this may seem a bit unfair, but seeing those colours just has me excited! If you interpret my message as being anything less than encouraging you can consider this an apology. The last thing I want to do is discourage one of my favourite artists on the website from exploring a new aesthetic.
I'm just overly-sensitive about the wording of things at times, no hard feelings
I suppose I was just having fun with the make-up, having the 'fashionable goth' look in mind
my thinking was that a splash of color would make things interesting amongst all the greys and blacks I wear
thinking about it now, I do understand what you mean by the garish quality, I suppose I'm not ready for colors yet, regardless of how 'fun' (for lack of a better word) they can be
I picked up an eye-shadow set today that's all in greyscale and gives the 'smokey eyes' look.
I'm quite happy with how it came out, so I'll probably wear that more than any loud colors :P
I feel like I should be more subtle yet elegant in my approach to expressing my gender identity anyway
