Jacques Plante- First NHL goalie to wear a mask. Due to a slapshot to the face. A mask must now always be worn by a goaltender.
Ken Dryden- During his first playoff season, Dryden won the Conn Smythe Trophy (1971), as the playoffs' most valuable player before winning Rookie of the Year.
Patrick Roy- Considered by many the greatest goalie of all time. Won 2 Stanley cups with Montreal, and 2 more with the Colorado Avalanche. He revolutionized goaltending by use of the Butterfly style, allowing him to cover most of the next simply through body position.
All these men have had their numbers retired in Montreal.
