Staff in progress that I'm finally getting around to making.
I've had this 7-foot long piece of timber for about 7 months now. Found it roadside near my home, was a recently-fallen branch from a windstorm we had, and was still partially attached to the tree it was part of. So, one day i came back with a hacksaw and finished the job. was still a tad green, so I wanted to let it dry and harden a bit before I started work on it. Didn't intend to let it sit for 7 months, but better late than never. Tonight I stripped the bark off of it with my knife and removed the knots from the sides with my file, and the process took about 1 hour.
Before anyone cries "not furry", it is for my character, to go with my fursuit. I intend to sand it down Monday or Tuesday and see how it feels then. Obviously, I will need to cut it down a little, 7 feet is a bit unwieldy for a 5'8" person such as myself.
Current plan is to inset stones into the sides for decoration, pommel the bottom, and affix a crystal of some sort to the top. I plan to use the thicker upper part of the branch, as it is straighter and more durable than the thinner bottom end.
