Watercolor and Acrylics for the dark parts. i had a scrap of Watercolor paper so i decided to do a bit of practice.. late at night. This took me only 2 hours. I used a nylon brush for the trees, and a mop brush for the rest. Here is a photo to show my workspace and the actual scale:

it's 2.5"x5.5" irregular shape, i know.
Personally, I'm not happy with it.. it's Crap!
particularly if you look at what i used as reference:

i was thinking so too. i get the feeling that oil is a pretty powerful medium. i've been wanting to ask around what brands people might recommend. like if anyone can give me preferences on Phthalo blue or Ultramarine, and what makes a good red, etc. it would be a tough investment for me. Personally, i still think i suck too much and am unworthy of using such a premium medium.
I dont know if you have these where you are but I find Mont Marte paints and brushes good quality and fairly cheap.Well I use Ultramarine for most of my works. That montana pic I did was basicaly ceruiean blue hue for the sky the mountians and trees where ultramarine base with yellows and white blended in to make the greens
