Update, yay!
Got all the rings moving properly and filled in some circles.
Added some lines to the dials so you can see where the 0 points are... just something nice to watch.
Also fixed a typo in the second and minute circles.. if you look at the old one you might notice that 32 says 23. When it's upside down you really don't notice.
Anyway this is pretty much the base of it... all that needs to be done now is make it pretty.
1 one week I will be deleting the older one off of FA here. Giving my few watchers and fave's time to switch to this one. ^_^
Next update should be the final colored nice looking version.
Any ideas or comments?

trajan the I would make a pink one for him and a few other's piped up as well...
What coors do you think would look good?

Hmm, since you mentioned colors...
why not make it possible to let the user color each ring separately, any color they wanted.
Add the option for moon moon phases.
Here is a tricky idea. Since the middle is being used for nothing, why not show what the out side moon or sun would look like at that time.

Several hours over a few days. Yes I did all the coding for this. And it was a project for school.
We learned about how flash can read your desktop clock... and then we needed to make some kind of clock... or abstract representation of time. So I just combined a calender and a normal digital (numbered) read clock into all analog (spinny).

I have seen a clock similar to this one represented here. Though it's roughly designed, it is a very nice way to show the current time associated with your computer clock. The last one had the year rotating with it as well, but considering that it went only as high as 2005, I think it broke and the web site had to take it down.
Very well done, and hope to see more :)

Anyway, I ask this question on the layers because, like you, I play with SecondLife. I'm curious as to se if this could be made into a timepiece in the game. It looks like it woudl require at least 7 prims (each dial and then the hand). Each dial woudl need to have a special rotation or texture rotation script... but I think this woudl be possible in SL....
Hehe. the rings might not be so difficult, it's just figuring out the rotation scripts for the day of the week and the dates. I'm thinking that maybe a modified hour script might do it...
Yeah.. hehe.. I have to admit that I ran into this while I was looking for more traditional clocks to make in SL.
