I still don't have much of an idea of what I'm doing when it comes to (digital) painting, especially characters. So I must practice. And then I ended up liking the the characters better than the background, for once. ._. It also reminded of how much I like drawing pictures that make you feel like they have a story behind them. Need to do that more often.
I don't know, I just wanted to draw pheasants, and I have nooooo idea what's with the fantasy/medieval theme in my art lately. Really, no idea....

Your artwork just gets better and better, T-Kast. The desaturated color scheme works perfectly for the setting, and it binds the characters and the environment perfectly. The contrast between the character expressions is delightful-- I especially like how the lady's expression is subdued, as if struggling not to notice the very expressive gentleman. And the postures tell of the characters personalities very well.
One thing that is so subtle yet so brilliant is the way you've melded the background with the characters. The rounded arch of light over the lady's head hints at a halo, while the two supports arcing over the male's head hint at devil horns. Finally, as always, your lighting is INCREDIBLE. That soft glowing mist effect is just stellar, and the way the light creeps around the bricks is both beautiful and totally convincing. And while the edging of light around the male's face doesn't appear to have a natural source in the image, it adds to his expression and personality. This is straight up Ridley Scott lighting here. Man, this is so good.
