Another shot from last summer- Two old intermediate searchlight signals stand guard alongside the former Monon Route (now CSX) near Battle Ground, Indiana. The small yellow "G" sign on the signal mast indicates an uphill grade- the track here is at the top of the slope coming out of the Wabash River valley.

There are still several in service around Taft, where I railfan. It's fun to watch the one by the yard limit change when Amtrak runs through. :3

Out here, the BNSF 'racetrack' is a paradise for them- there are several signal bridges with at least 9 on each one for various indications. But they're being slowly replaced with Darth Vaders...

Yeah...we've got the Vaders on the main near the ex-SCL Amtrak station now, but there's still a searchlight guarding the Conrad Yelvington siding...that's just as old as the ALCo RS1 and S2 units they use.

The only program I use is Skype, largely because it's just so much better, and I don't have to sign up for an email address I'll never use :P

Eff-why-eye this place is known as Ash Grove. Famous in Monon lore for the head-on collision that occurred in the 50s a short distance to the south after a southbound freight overran the siding here.

They are quite old. I think before the searchlights were mounted here, the masts had semaphores on them. Further down this same line, there were semaphores in operation until two years ago.

Wow, even two years ago the semaphores aspects weren't covered anymore in the CROR over here! I think we have to go back to the early 90's to still see them in there.
