The sins of mankind

This is set 5 years after world war 3 the United Nations (United States, Great Britain and Russia) are all that’s left as civilized nations. There need to create a new weapons to help keep them safe was approved by the UN 3 years after world war 3. 3 researchers one from each country were sent to a secret base in Siberia that was used as a nuclear launch site (the nukes that are still there) they were given everything that they needed to make what they called a super human that is stronger, faster, and smarter but success comes with a price, a price that will test humanities worthiness to be the dominating species and there will to survive.

Chapter one: success

Day 752
We have discovered that by contaminating the DNA of a animal makes what we call a muscle mutation and it stimulates the muscles to grow at a very rapid rate giving them super strength and a increase in speed by 27% this is the largest spike in muscle acceleration in the past 2 years of work we are ecstatic and are preparing to display it to the united nations counsel today wish me luck

“So you ready to display our great creation to the counsel”? Asked Dimitri who must have snuck up behind me while I was finishing my daily log “God dimitri stop sneaking up on me while I’m writing you know how nervous I am so stop trying to make it worse” I snapped at him “well my friend let’s just sure this looks good, come on Ian is almost finished with setting up the transponder lets go get set up and grab the dog” he said jokingly. I gave him a look that I use so often that he is used to it and sighed “ok dimitri give me a second ill go get it” I started walking towards the door to the lab housed with 10 different animals each with a different species in each, what we found surprising is that the mutation we are trying only affects animals that use their brain more so the fish died after we tried it on the fish. Yet the 5 species that survived in the tests were a dog, wolf, a parakeet, a lizard, and hawk. The ones that died were the fish, the hamster, an alligator, a salamander, a praying mantis, and a chicken. I walked over to the kennel with the dog in it, he was a white husky with a black spot covering half of its face, "come on buddy it’s time to show off our first success in the past 2 years” I opened up the kennel and attached the leash to his collar and we walked to the transponder station which is just a circular room with a camera in the middle and a screen on the far wall so we can chat both ways with the united nation council. “Hey Clayton over here” waved Ian, Ian is a rather happy fellow who is always looking on the bright side of everything we joke around and say that as long as Ian can look to the bright side there is still hope that we will succeed. “Hey Ian you got the transponder set up yet”? I asked “yea took all morning but I was able to direct it enough to get it though the damm snow storm its messing up the signal so I had some men set up a relay station 6 miles from here to redirect it to a satellite and then to the counsel” he replied in his cocky voice he uses to show that he still has a sense of humor in this barren wasteland. “Well whatever how long until we are scheduled to meet the counsel”? I asked “oh about 20 to 30 minutes is my best guess they will contact us when they are ready” replied Ian, dimitri who was way to quiet for his usual self stepped in “hey we have enough time let pull out that aged whisky we`ve been saving for a day like this lets go pop it out and celebrate to a job well done” I walked over to the computer next to the old TV camera we are forced to use “hold up guys we are getting contact from the council I’m putting us though now” I pressed the receive button that began our transmission

“good day presidents” I nodded at the camera” may we begin the presentation of you new super solder”? “Yes let us begin” said the United States president. “Ok as you know two years ago we were in need for a new weapon that could assist us in war well considering that we cannot continue forward with weapons we have though why not upgrade the person? I tell you this we have engendered a cut in a DNA strand that causes a chain reaction making muscle growth increased and giving them more strength and are faster as well and increases brain stimuli making them up to 100% smarter” I paused and pointed towards the husky randy as we began calling him that is our first successful experiment within days of the transfer we reported increase in his muscle growth and brain activity he is what we call the first super solder that this world has ever seen. Sadly though this one with we call X7 only works on animals we are still trying to fix that issue and make one that will work on humans” I watched the screen waiting on their reply. The minister from great Brittan spoke up “so let us get this straight you have created a working prototype yet it only works on animals”? “Yes sir I replied we are working out the issues on it at the moment and it will be ready by the next month” I replied in the calmest voice you can when addressing an angry leader, dimitri spoke up “guys we are making progress look at the dog it has a muscle increase of 27% that is the biggest increase of our entire research all we need to do is finish up and make the human prototype so don’t start getting mad at us because we are trying our hardest” finishing his speech with his amped up voice that I’ve only heard on three occasions. I was taken aback by how rudely he regarded the three most important men in the world “I’m sorry for my friends irrational behavior he is a little mad about how you are mad at us for all we have accomplished” I said as dimitri stormed out of the room yelling one of his curses he so solemnly believed in. the Russian prime minister piped in “so if that is all we have to discuses today I guess we will sign off” and he pushed the button ending the transmission. “well that was one of the worse meetings we`ve had with them yet” I said as I slumped down into my seat I looked over at randy and he seemed to have a look of sympathy on his face that must have startled me enough for Ian to notice “what’s wrong Clayton”?
“I just swore I saw the dog give me a sympathetic look” I said back in a panicked voice “well it was probably your imagination I mean we are very stressed and that dose things to you” he replied then grimacing” that meeting wasn’t that bad I mean remember when dimitri shot the screen because they got mad at him for wasting some time to fix the coolant vent” I burst out laughing “yea yet they didn’t care that it saved our life in the long run”


Chapter 2: lost hope
Day 764
Something is wrong with randy he is getting bigger stronger and he is able to copy most human expressions with a odd animal like addition to it we are getting concerned that the mutation is doing more than we expected it to and began locking all the X7 in a heavily armored vault to keep it from getting to the public and I pray that we can solve this for the sake of humanity its self we are keeping it save for god know what would happen if it was released to a wildlife area.
Day 765
Randy is getting odd he is able to manipulate practically every human expression and can sort of speak and manipulate his mouth to speak a small amount of English and we believe that the DNA manipulations did more than just make him stronger but it made him more human in form and we will be putting him down tomorrow if this mutation doesn’t stop.


Day 765.5

Randy escaped when I was getting the tissue samples analysis in the other room and Today we got word that some of the nukes that were left at the site were starting to activate we are not sure how they were activated but my best guess is that they are just malfunctioning I sent Ian down to see if he can disable the missiles though we aren’t sure if randy`s IQ is high enough to program the missiles.

“Ian! Ian god dammit answers me” I chucked the walke talkie at the floor “still no reply from him” said dimitri who was sitting behind me with his rifle aimed at the door “yea I replied I shouldn’t have sent him out to try to disarm the missiles without any assistance” I replied. “What happened yesterday we were experimenting with him and went to go look at some tissue samples and then I heard the crash and ran back into the room to see a blur of white fly into the air ducts. I knew something was wrong with him and now what we`ve done may destroy the planet as we know it” I said with a panicked tone in my voice. “As long as he can’t get the supplement of X7 in this room then he can just blow up missiles and start a nuclear winter don’t wor-“ I put my hand in front of his mouth “quiet I heard something “I whispered, I pulled out my M9 and aimed it at the noise “crap I think he is in the ducts again” I said in a panicked voice “yea I hear it “ dimitri said as he pointed his rifle at the noise following it “you know what I think he doesn’t know we are here” he said in a short victory whisper I whispered back “yea I think so wait…………listen……….I think he is coming………..ok I think he is go-“ I screamed as a blur of white and a claw comes down on dimitri neck tearing the skin and muscle out where I could see the bone. His face turned as whit as the snow outside the window and fell as fast as a rock. “DIMITRI noooooooooooooo” I screamed as the husky came up to me with the rifle and the last thing I saw was the butt of a rifle hitting me in the face and the world going black.

I blinked slowly every movement hurt, I took a mental reading of how I felt. At least one broken rib a small concision and a puncture to the head, I could feel the blood running down my head as I got up I was dazed and not sure what happened then the pang of terror as dimitri was killed and Ian was believed to be lost “oh my god this is awful” I got up and looked around and wasn’t that surprised to see that a large amount of the X7 was missing “well it looks like my guess on what he would try to do was correct” I walked out of the vault and started to the control room were ever I looked nothing had seemed to change for a moment I thought I was just going to a regular meeting and savored the moment. I walked into the control room and went to check the partially functioning control panel and saw that one of the usual he moment. Then the rumbling of the rockets launching came a voice from the doorway “so is this what you planned for us to just let us die off after what you’ve don’t to us. The reason I am here is because of this stupid idea of self preservation” I turned around and he gave me a stare that would freeze a volcano “oh my god he is wearing Ian’s cloths” I looked he has three long claw marks down the shirt and by the red stains around the marks he cut deep and had a gun in his back pocket “today is the start of your races ending my brothers are almost complete with our transformation and there is nothing your people can do to stop it” he pulled a pistol out of his back pocket and aimed it at me. I prayed to every god for forgiveness for what I’ve done then heard a bang and spiraled into darkness.
