It was easy enough to do. I just did the gear on another layer, and then saved a copy of each with some small adjustments. :)

I find his chest-plate suits him both aesthetically as well as fitting and functioning good with his anatomy. he also does and doesn't have an alien feel which I consider good for several reasons. you did a really good job with him.

Thanks. The gear does a lot to humanize them. In their natural environment, they're more like dolphin/eel with their movements. :)

I thought that was how they would move when I say them, I think I already know the answer since they have gills but i'm curious in thier natural enviorment are they strictly aquatic or are there times the venture out of water for short periods.

Their homeworld is 90% deuterium rich sea-water. Most of the landmass is islands scatters all over the planet. They mostly stick to shallows, but can awkwardly flop and slither short distances over land by effectively 'holding their breath'

looks great. what i usually do for names is 1) think of personality and find a name fitting that or B) randomly put a few consonants together and see what vowels can fit where and which ones are better.

If there's one thing I like more than alien designs, it's aliens in gear. And oooh man, a bazillion points for the handy pouch. Gosh darnit, some cool-lookin' suits seem to never have any pockets.

This is an awesome design Sky ^^ We'd had to do something like this recently for class, but we were forced to have legs on them :< Wish I could have done somethnig as cool as this! I was rather uninspired at the time, so the end result was a mix of Halo style armour on something that looks like it would be in Mass Effect :<

Areasi naturally don't have hands, so they're forced to use bionic armatures (On the front of his gear there) in order to interact better with other species and environments.

Very cool! I remember seeing a picture of one of these guys years ago and really liked the concept; it's nice to see you revisiting them. Aquatic spacefarers that aren't dolphins seem rather rare. BTW, have you read Startide Rising?
