It was the relative silence that woke Cannon from his nap that evening. Outside it was quiet, a silent night; where the snow danced a swirling spiral of cold misery on pilgrimage to the earth. That’s the way it was supposed to be at night on a frosty February evening- but not in the house. In the house there was supposed to be screaming, and yelling, a tornado of thrown punches and vicious kicks from Calamity and Chaos, arguing over a science experiment, his mate, screaming into her cell phone, and Pandora who would be on fire for some reason.
But it was as silent inside the house as it was out. He pried himself from his easy chair, stretching lengthy, languid limbs towards the air and popped and cracked sleepy joints and stoked the fires of his curiosity. Where in blazes was everyone? The house was empty, with no signs of his family to be seen…except for one…
“Chaos? What are you doing? Where is everybody?” The eldest coyote asked his youngest, finding his son laboring away in the basement laboratory of their home. His boy, Chaos, was sitting casually at the work bench, trying to wedge something into a small box, and the elder coyote frowned at the multiple objects scattered about the bench. Dynamite, mother boards, wires…
“Oh! D, dad! Hello…I didn’t mean to, er, did I wake you? I’m sorry. Mom is working late, Pandora is out with Rush and Calamity is at a movie. It’s just been me since I’ve gotten home.” The coyote pup responded quietly, and winced when his father meandered over towards the work bench, frowning at the mess.
“…What are you building…is this a bomb?” He asked, turning sternly towards his son, whom rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
“Y, yeah…well uh…I…I know Mom doesn’t…uh…want me making explosives but…” He trailed off, silenced by his father’s disapproving glare.
“You know, she probably doesn’t want you making explosives, because she’s afraid you’ll blow up the house. This is all wrong! I can’t believe my son doesn’t know how to build a proper bomb! Pull up a chair, lemme teach you how this is done. “ The coyote grinned, watching his son’s face light up like a Christmas Tree. The silent night wasn’t going to stay silent for long…
A sinisterly heart warming picture depicted by one of my favorite artists:
Alaura_Huyana (Whom, by the way, is the first artist to depict Chaos' parents, Both mom, AND dad, and therefore has solidified the way they look from now on- It was her idea to give Cannon a torn ear) She is a plate of awesome with rock sauce all over it!!
"Can we blow up someone, dad?"
"Anyone you like, son. Anyone you like."

This is so fatherly...
Anyway, you set up the envitonment quite well at the beginning, with the descriptions of the baron, wintery neighborhood. It reminds me of where I am right now, but more... majestic. I DO live in a half-constructed street wehere dirt and pre built-house holes surround me day and night. (Sigh), I love it here though.
But this isn't about that.
The artists touches are nice, especially on the character trademarks with Cannon; the Torn ear adds to him quite well, and leaves me in mystery as to how his ear is half-gone... ;)
And finally...
I don't even wanna ask why Pandora was on fire. Explosions are one thing, sure, but that sounds a little fishy. Ot coyote-y.
Awesome stuff.
