I was trying to record backup vocals, but it just made it sound fuzzy. As some of you know, IC and myself live on other ends of the country. I lay down the live guitar, bass, and beats(in this case the drums are stock samples layered over each other, and I programed the drum fills entirely). Next I send it via mp3 to him, and he does the vocals. In order for me to do background vocals, he has to send it back to me(which lowers the quality). I wish he was here so we could just do this I one take.
lyrics:
"Warning"
[Verse 1:]
This is a public service anouncement, this is only a test
Emergency evacuation protest
May Impair your ability to operate machinery
Can't quite tell just what it means to me
Keep out of reach of children, don't you talk to strangers
Get your philosophy from a bumper sticker
[Chorus:]
Warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Without. Alright.
[Verse 2:]
Better homes and safety-sealed communities
Did you remember to pay the utility?
Caution: Police line, you better not cross.
Is it the cop, or am I the one thats really dangerous?
Sanitation, expiration date, question everything.
Or shut up and be a victim of authority
[Chorus:]
Warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Without. Alright.
[Verse 3:]
Better homes and safety-sealed communities
Did you remember to pay the utility?
Caution: Police line, you better not cross.
Is it the cop, or am I the one that's really dangerous
Sanitation, expiration date, question everything.
Or shut up and be a victim of authority
[Chorus:]
Warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning

look...
..I've debated this with the most purist of punks. I first heard Green Day in 1993(I was in sixth/seventh grade). They spoke to me, and at the time were no more mainstream than Social Distortion or Rancid. Fast forward a little, and it's totally easy, fun and cool to hate on Green Day. Which, you can totally do...
...But do not deny they write catchy hooks. PERIOD. If they would have never achieved commercial status( ie: NOFX/Fugazi/etc...[both great bands]), would you still hate them?
I don't understand how a major record contract makes a band any less of a band. I mean they fucking have Davey Havok(AFI) playing "St. Jimmy" on the broadway production of "American Idiot." (something that both contradicts and defies anything I have ever said or thought).

LOL! I didn't even read what you posted, but I can see where this is going. I'm no punk bashing on Green Day. With a few exceptions, I hate punk. In fact, I hate punks FOR bashing on Green Day.
I went and listened to some of these "real punk" bands. Oh gawd, the horror. But some of it (I think The Misfits) sounded just like Green Day. That made me wonder what all these pretentious dumbasses are talking about. After researching the likes of G.G. Allin and The Sex Pistols, I came to realize why they hate Green Day (and why I hate punk rock and the whole subculture of it).
Punk isn't about the music. It's about offending people. (I often wondered why these alleged anarchists are so obnoxiously conformist, and why all these happy songs had angry lyrics. "Irony" apparently.) But Green Day, unlike tr00 punk, was actually about the music. This was a legitimate band that wanted to make songs that people might enjoy, and they just so happened to have a punk style. This angrered the tr00 punks, for punk isn't punk unless it's offensive.
Lol maybe I'm an ironic punk for posting that comment on this.
