So far as I am concerned:
Changing the voice: fine. The VA did not know Derpy was supposed to be female, so it sounded really strange.
Removing the name: annoying. Potentially a legal issue, though, so we don't know of they had a choice on that one.
Un-derping the eyes: Okay, no, I didn't like that. That's the big mistake there. Though it has been confirmed they will be derped in future episodes.
Overall: Chalk it up to experience and watch the un-altered version if you want. Thanks to Hasbro being laissez-faire over online uploading of the episodes, the "Last Rounderp" is still available to watch.

Well, that's coming on a little strong...
Do you know what the problem was? The objections being made by people are because they changed it thanks to "nitpicking demands". That is, the episode has been edited post-broadcast.
And a part of the point of Derpy is that the current generation of MLP was explicitly made to be a show the whole family could watch and enjoy. Not just little girls as you contend - Lauren Faust said that "if she'd done her job right", then adults would be able to watch it and enjoy it. And people have.
Derpy is a sort of symbol of that, since her original appearance was an animation mistake - and she's shown up a LOT since then. It's pretty clearly a nod to the "brony" group by the creators of the show. The reason this change got such a reaction is because:
1) It was her first speaking role, and she was pretty much as a lot of people imagined.
2) The (fan created) name of Derpy was used. It's rare for a show to do anything like that.
3) The subsequent changes were large-scale and retroactive, and removed a couple of the fandom nods in the original.
Since then, the controversy has died down as they've only changed her portrayal in that one episode, and since subsequent episodes have had her in. But it provoked fears when it first occurred of the character being "disappeared" and not appearing again.
Oh, and as for the "little girls" thing again? Have you SEEN some of these villains? The most recent one wanted to eat the entire population!
Like Doctor Who, it's a family show primarily aimed at children. But the Grimm fairy tales were grim as hell.

Yeah, enjoy the show.
I'm sure she didn't take into account that a whole horde of rabid fans would create a clusterfuck of drama over it because they take the show more seriously than their kids or little siblings.
I'm not even responding to the rest, it's clear you're one of those who takes the cartoon too seriously and you've devolved your point into desperately coming up with an excuse for doing so.

Do you consider it impossible for a show created so that children can watch it to be good?
Do you consider it to be a bad thing if people become attached to a show they watch?
And do you consider it to be good if a small number of people get an episode of a show changed over the much larger number of people who don't mind?

Many people's tolerance was exceeded by the un-announced editing of a previous episode (think Han shot first with Star Wars), especially since there wasn't really an explanation given.
And generally speaking the MLP creative team is lovely about listening to fan reaction (so, say, large numbers of characters have risen from background to speaking characters based on their popularity, and little jokes about fanon go in all the time). In this case, the reaction was along the lines of "you're making what we think is a mistake, the few people who complained are a minority". Being happy with what you have doesn't usually extend to placidly accepting "Orwellian retcons".
