This is a concept design I did years ago for someone who was looking for a suit of samuria armor that would have a fox motif to it. More than a decade later it actually got constructed. The main concern of the client was he wanted no part of the design to be inconceivable for the Japanese to have made. The wearer might have to have a lot hutzpah to wear it, but the suit itself was not impossible. After much discussion it was settled to design it around the tosei gusoki (modern armor) style.

Cool stuff! You capture a lot of the intricacy, reality, and essence of Samurai armor! It must have been amazing stuff during the day, even though the Japanese developed metallurgical skills to easily fashion large pieces of metal late in the game, the layered, lacquered armor must have offered fantastic protection for armor of its class.
