At the end of my last Equestria dream I was confronted with the fact that not only did we need to purchase new outfits for Carousel and Petina for the upcoming Canterlot Music Festival http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7461577 but I was going to need new threads for it to. It was a mental blind spot on my behalf, but now I had three mares staring at me and deciding what "they" thought I'd look good in for the different events we would be attending. Petina particularly looked like she was going to have fun dressing me up.
For the Symphony it was decided that a deep navy blue jacket of wool with a matching felt top hat were just the ticket. The jacket and the long sleeve white silk shirt that went with the ensemble were carefully tailored so I could technically still fly in them. Of course I would be walking unless I wanted to have the hat fly off my head when I took off. It had no chin strap. A pale yellow ascot and gold cuff links finished off the outfit.
For the Garden Recital Rarity and Petina selected a white jacket of heavy cotton and light violet silk shirt for me. A deep violet bow tie finished that part of outfit. To provide the shade for my eyes while strolling through the sunny garden, a woven havana style white broad brim hat with deep blue hatband would be perched rakishly on my head.
It was for Scratch's performance that all three of mares started rubbing their hooves together in glee. After a whirlwind of options and clothing decisions Rarity settled on what she thought would be a show stopper ensemble. A black oil cloth overcoat with wing cutouts was the foundation garment. Under it I wore a snug vest of deep chocolate brown wool. The vest had numerous pockets of various sizes and looked like it was meant for an engineer on a ship. Which I found out later it was originally meant for. Sheathing my lower legs were stout boots of brown leather that was so dark it almost looked black. They were festooned with more buckles than I had ever seen on boots. I figured it would take me five minutes to put each boot on. Petina said she'd help. She is good with buckles and stuff. glasses with tinted square lens would give me that steampunk gentleman look. The one thing that Petina and Rarity went back and forth over was whether to include the helmet of hardened leather and brass as final finishing touch to my get up. I don't know if it was an actual military helmet originally or not, but it was black and had a brass pegasus head and wings that formed a shield plate on the front of it. A heavy brass chain served as a chin strap. After much debate it was abandoned and it was decided to spike my mane like Petina's. She said it gave me a rather Matrix-look which got a rather odd stares from Rarity and Carousel.

I think my expression reflects two things. One as pony I am not use to wearing clothes and that was the first time I had really worn clothes. Plus they were formal attire. Second I had seen a number Rarity had written down for the jacket, and it was a lot of bits!!!
Petina needs to be more careful with her anachronistic references.
You do seem to be enjoying the garden recital suit. It's a keeper (although I doubt any of these are rentals).
The Sympony suit (morning suit?) looks uncomfortable. Or is it just because it's the first?
Radical oil cloth, but for rain it would really need a big hood-like hat.
(Spiked hair -- ugh.)

I mentioned that but Petina told me the weather service had scheduled clear weather for the duration of the festival around Canterlot. When I asked both Rarity and Petina why I was wearing oil skin overcoat then they just stared at me like I'd said something really stupid. I just went got a coffee at that point.

Oh, for fashion it's just fine as-is. But if this isn't a rental and you didn't get the hat with the coat, go back and get one. And maybe a wing-cover. Voila! Your "looks" purchase just became practical! (Well, maybe some proper mud-boots instead of those buckle-up monstrosities. Don't worry about the weight, I don't recommend flying in the rain anyway.)
Every filly crazy for a sharp dressed stallion. (Doesn't match the tune, I know. But what can you do?) Damn man! Lookin good. I especially love the one for the garden recital. It reminds me of the suit Michael Jackson had for Smooth Criminal. I can deffinately see the Canterlot mares looking you over thoroughly. And in the bottom one you look like you stepped out of an episode of Trigun. Not quite sure about the first outfit though. Looks to me like the hat is just a smidge to large. But excellent overall.
The Symphony outfit is quite dapper indeed! The outfit for the Scratch concert... well let's just say that it brings to mind some of the fashions from a particular Wachowski Brothers film. ^_^;;
But that Recital outfit... oh, my, that is QUITE stylish! It's such a shame that a well-cared-for fedora is no longer the fashion. Especially apropos for an afternoon event.
You -- and the ladies, of course -- really do have a wonderful eye for clothing, outfits, and style!

Yeah of all the outfits that is the one could see myself wearing regularly after the music festival. I'll just need to get a chin strap for the Havana.

Outfit One: Pardon me, but do you happen to have any Grey Poupon?
Outfit Two: 'Scuse me ladies while I make 'dis look gooooooooood.
Outfit Three: Either it's time to kick ass, or chew bubblegum. I'm not seeing any gum.
I think the extra-pointy wing flaring in the third drawing are what really sell it. Not only do you look like Neo, but you've got the "I know pony-fu" pose to boot.

Probably best I don't have any bubblegum. I'd probably pop a bubble and then have it my mane. Still I like the movie reference.

Well remember a Matrix dream from years ago that involved both myself and Petina and Jackie the one scene that still sticks in my head is Petina and I standing in completely white featureless room and Petina saying. "Clothes Jackie! We need clothes!" Then racks of clothes whizzing by us like gun racks out of the first Matrix movie.

As scary as it is to throw yourself and your appearance at the mercy of a couple of ladies, they certainly made it worth the emotional trauma. The ensemble suit is formal but handsome (hard to mess that up), and the recital is very dapper. You look like you just walked off the set of a "Smooth Criminal" music video.
The concert outfit, however, is the best of the bunch. Reading through the description, it sounds like it's inspired more by Firefly than The Matrix. Without the spiky mane and shades (cool as they are), you could look like Nathan Fillyon. I'm glad the girls decided to ditch the helmet idea, it would've been too much.

Yeah the mares did good I think with their selections. Of I did have some say in the process. Just so long as I didn't disagree with their choices.

I am so jealous that you get to walk around in this -.-
Well right now things aren't quite so much fun since my dreamscape has moved on quite some distance from this happy scene at the boutique. At the moment the single biggest thing is trying to help Applebloom who's situation has gotten a lot more serious and deadly.

Not so enviable then. Does that happen often, or just rarely? I haven't had a nightmare myself for about a decade, so I'm fairly sure the ratio of nightmares is specific from person to person :3
I haven't had a true night terror in about a year. Nightmares I may have several of those a year but I count those as being different. One of my lucid dreams can be a nightmare. Terrifying, horrific and very disturbing. The difference from it and night terror is in context and intensity. A nightmare is like a horror movie that may scare the bejeebers out of you but when it is all done you go. "Wow that was intense and really scary! But in a strange way kind of cool." The reason people like to go haunted houses and tell ghost stories around campfires. Heck that is what got Paynes Grey in trouble and unleashed the Lord of Shadows. I guess the difference is that I know a nightmare is a dream when I awake from it.
A night terror is not watching a horror movie it is being in the horror movie. For me they are almost always full sensory experience and often not furry or anthropomorphic in nature. They are very difficult in nature to wake up from and when I finally do it can take a few minutes for me to truly regain my orientation to my surroundings. I am often physically ill from the experience Vomiting, shaking, roaring headaches and pulled and sore muscles. The next day is not fun.

Actually most often I am listening to classical music or vintage jazz and folk. All of which are types of music that only recently started listening to because I hear them being played by ponies when I am in my Equestrian dreamscape. Although for some the sketches of I did of the Lord of Shadows I listened to Rammstein while doing them. Along with Lustmord's "Heresy".
