Hehe, cute picture!
I love feeding squirrels, they're so adorable. Especially in Yosemite, those guys really know how to beg. :) And before somebody jumps on me for feeding wildlife, I maintain that since those squirrels are more domesticated than my house cats they are not wildlife. :-P

Really? I've always found the chipmunks to be a bit less tame, and haven't seen any marmots in years. But those squirrels, man... I was hiking up to Vernal Falls and had one *run* down the trail toward me! He knew what the deal was. And on top of Vernal Falls, it took just three almonds and I had a squirrel standing up on my knee. And my domestic cat, that we've had for three years, still occasionally tears off in a panic when we enter the room. Wildlife... yeah, right. :)
It probably depends on the season, and whereabouts you encounter them. I've had chipmunks walk across the tops of my shoes as though I wasn't even there (possums too, which is a bit more disconcerting). The marmots that I remember were mostly up in the high country, but at least at some of the overlook points they were clearly used to people being around... you could get within about 5 feet before they'd grudgingly scoot back into their dens.
