OH BOY SOMEONE FINALLY ASKED!
ahem
since reality is often the root of fantasy, it's no surprise that this is partially real.
this relates a vast series of repairs i'd done on a large cardboard baler control panel
(and the rest of the machine, electrical/hydraulic/mechanical)
and this partially expresses my desire to have done more extensive (and permanent) rework.
but that in the background is the baler (and a pallet rack)
the box lid has a meter movement, but the white squares are contact blocks
for the panel mounted operators (start stop direction auto/man)
there was a lot of things wrong with that thing, and it was all i could do
to even get repair approval after some DUMBASS (i.e. a person in particular) ritually broke it
it's no wonder they now have a smaller older, shittier used machine since i left.
they probably managed to break it for the nth time and nobody was there to fix it
so they called central and got shipped someone else's temporarily working garbage equipment
this is why i both like the prospect of being an engineer instead of a maintenance peon
but at the same time i have an immense distrust of managerial types of all breeds
the tools are identical to the ones i carried every day
klein 12098 and a custom hex chucked screwdriver
i don't relate myself with the the character
but it just happens like that when i'm unimaginative.
