Any idea of a good way to have fun with a 2000 Focus? I love under body glow kits and lights in general, but I want something more along the lines of performance, without having to overhaul. I already did that on an '89 Beretta (rebuilt the engine) & '88 Nova (rebuilt carburetor). Not the greatest cars to work with, but they got me from point A to point B. The Nova was a stick and I loved driving it, it was beat to hell, but it was a fun car.
Saleen makes some good body kits. And street glow makes underbody lighting. Put some nice rims and tires on it and it will be a brand new car. And then for power, you could get a good exhaust system. (i have done this with my wagon) and maybe a cold air intake. A computer chip will also help power.
I have no idea where would be a good place to start. I would like performance enhancements mostly to increase fuel efficiency and overall performance. I need to get some parts of my car repainted because there are some rust spots that are starting. Not too noticeable at the moment, except if you are looking for them.
If I am going to be modifying the body at all, I just want to make sure that it would not cause redundancy for getting certain parts repainted (i.e. if it is going to be replaced, why paint it?) I have relatively new tires on it, but driving through snow and crappy weather are reason enough to not get new rims and nice tires. I have no idea what would be a good exhaust system to get, and don't care to have it sound loud (if anything, I'd want a sleeper). How hard would it be to put in a cold air intake, chip, exhaust, whatever. Bare in mind I have little to no automotive knowledge. When I say I want performance, I want it for more realistic purposes. The lights would just be to amuse myself and my nieces/nephews.

I'm switching to LEDs myself...

Lol. Yea. It isn't running. And just about any car is worth customizing. I have even seen some good looking Ford tauruses. Make your car your own. That's what I have done. A lot of people think I've pistons hanging from the back are dumb, and that it is a Subaru wagon that should never have anyone but lesbians and old men drive it. That doesn't stop me from making it my own. I own that car, I want it to look and perform how I want. Regardless of what others think.
