i suppose it has to speak for itself
maybe i'm a fool to think it implies anything
but the sensation of freedom i get
from escaping the limits of any town
in which i invariably feel myself unwelcome
for the safety of the dark and serene horizon
is overwhelming

the shell of lights and gaudy signs-
advertisements for closed stores and illumination for streets nobody walks
the light of a waning day put aside for the pursuit of flickering televisions
or public inebriation
offends me-
drives me away from a people obsessed with consumption
