This is one of my interior pages to the comic book put together in Art Spiegelman's SVA class way back when Ronnie Reagan was President. (The page's title and the weird "D" and "C" in the middle would take some explaining, but it's how Art wanted us to construct our pages.)

They ran Threads here in the US on a cable channel so yeah, it was pretty powerful stuff.
The rightwing in the US made a huge stink over "The Day After" - how dare they show people what nuclear war might actually be like? Don't they know we're all gonna get superpowers from the radiation, and the only damage is some broken glass we'll have to sweep up?
