Juvenile Bald Eagle seen 2/4/12 at Castaic Lake, CA. Bald Eagles are pretty rare here so it was a pretty exciting. Those orange things are wing ID tags, you can't read the number in my picture but another fellow birder with a bigger camera lens was able to get the number and turn it in to U.S. Fish and Wildlife. This is K97 (nicknamed Joy) an immature female who was hatched in 2009 on Catalina Island 70 miles away.
I won't post bird watching pictures/stories on here too much but I had to share this one since its probably the coolest bird sighting I've ever had.
