Another painting I did awhile ago. This was actually a real property, or two properties actually.
All the forested area was a petting zoo at one time, having been abandoned since the 1970's, and didn't look like it had been touched since then. The petting zoo property contained numerous artifacts from then and earlier, and everything was left behind. In fact this property was so well hidden and hard to access that before being cleared there was very little vandalism. The schoolhouse was even only a few feet from the road and yet you would have never known it was there.
The area to the right of the school house was an old cub scout push cart track(pretty much for soap box derbies). It was built with donated money from the Duponts I don't know how long ago. That had been abandoned for a long time too, possibly as long as the zoo. It was far more visible from the road, but was fenced off and had nothing worth vandalizing.
Today almost all of this is gone. The huge paved pushcart track was torn up for a shopping center around 2006 or so, and the petting zoo property was mostly cleared around the same time and is now an empty field, with only the small stable and the remains of a shed and chicken coup remaining.
