First attempt at drawing Xilimyth a while back. We were working on a story with her and Cheeyana (posting date TBA on my account) and I did a few sketches of Xilimyth dressed up as a part of Cheeyana's tribe, Senuva. Expect some more pics of her later on this year... and a better appearance than how I drew her in this pic. :P

XD It's ok, my friend. I figure you was referring to Cheeyana. I've had to correct the way I drew Xili myself for sometimes she would look too much like my character... but with wings lol. But like I mentioned in the description, it was a first attempt at drawing Xili. X3
I think this might become a classic among your drawings. ^^
Just the details on her wings are so well made as well as the lights that goes through.
The shades in turn of her muscles are really giving the feeling of how powerful she is.
And that expression of hers, is just to playful to ignore. X3
So thanks to all that, consider a fave from me.

So I did a little bit of "Xilimyth research" before I was gonna comment on this one and it seems to me like even though she (I don't know if the creator is male or female really ^^;;) is a rather reoccuring character in a lot of artists I watch she hasn't got any real reference sheet that I can easily find , something which makes it a bit harder to research her....it seems to me though that you've generally followed the character design rather well, I'm a bit curious about the "wing spikes" she doesn't seem to have in any other pictures I can find...at least to the great extent that you've made them here. Maybe it's an old design decision that's now been changed but yeah, felt it was required to bring it up. I also can't seem to find all that many references of cheeyana's tribeal wear, at least not as much of it as is shown here....that neck ring especially is something I cannot find, perhaps it's something she doesn't prefer to wear but yeah. Just saying.
The pose is interesting to me, seems to befit the title itself, it radiates that kind of power I believe you were going for and having the WP tilting slightly upwards to make her seem bigger is a good composition choice. is it wrong for me to be reminded of the Disturbed song Indestructible? Always a good one, have a listen; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWxBrI0g1kE&ob=av2n it's more about war then anything else but eh it's a good song I feel nonetheless. ^^
ok now on to the picture itself, I like the amount of muscle definition you put in there, it's a good choice of colour and the highlighting seems to follow the lightsource for the most part (the one spot it doesn't I'll mention later). The spots helps to give volume to the bulging muscles and I like that, the one thing that irks me quite a deal with this picture is the wings and especially the composition of musculature on them, it looks to me very off to the point I'd have suggested you to remake them and try doing it better.
there isn't much of a background for me to comment on but I believe what I can see looks rather neat, good rock definition on that cliff and I like the sunglare you added in there, perhaps it'd be a good idea to maker her wings slightly transparent though so the sunshine could penetrate them better? Right now they look very thick and leathery, like say a cowhide or something. if it's intended then don't pay attention to that. ^^
I'll say I like the palm trees you added in, they look really neat, the background itself gives quite a primordial feel to it which I'm a fan of. Also a bit of a side question but why is her loincloth ripping like that? it seems a bit odd since it's just a piece of cloth straight down it's not attached to anything that could stretch it out I imagine xD

(Where do I start? Ah!) Xilimyth has indeed gone through some evolution it seems through some artists before her pics were taken down. There's still a few older pics floating about on here like DocWolph's gallery (I think) for the most part. After all, I always referred looking off from his rendition than anybody else since he drew her a lot. Not to mention his art style was like a trademark on Xili just like her muscular wings whereas in my opinion, drew a lot of watchers (of course her body and muscles would also draw a crowd which is common).
So after talking with the actual creator of Xilimyth, we came to the conclusion of making "hir" into a "her". I strongly encouraged the idea really lol Herms just seems a bit disturbing imo. But as long as I don't need to draw a male package down below, I'm okay with drawing herms while I contradict saying "I'm drawing a female... I'm drawing a female..." It works apparently. But yeah, we decided to team up and work on a little story with her and Cheeyana and Xili (the user) wanted to redesign Xilimyth, taking some features away and adding others. To this day, we still are redesigning Xilimyth for a definite look. I know Xili had other artists such as DocWolph, LionHeart, and B9 do some redesigning concepts last year. Once I am back in business doing digi-drawing, I too shall work on some concept art again of this fine cheetah.
When I drew this, I really wasn't satisfied with it. I knew there was something off or the overall appearance simply just didn't sit well with me in general (especially the wings like you said). Her clothing design was randomly thought of as I drew this. That's including the tears at the bottom of her loin clothing. Just simple shred designs really *shrugs*. Subsequently, I made another picture of her to redeem myself (to myself) of being a little more proficient with drawing Xilimyth. I'm sure you've seen it on Xili's profile page, but of course you'll see it again here so you can give me a CC on it. Thanks again ^_^

Yeah makes sense. I donno him (the creator (I'm just assuming it's a he since most peeps on the internet is a he)) nor have I really liked a lot of DocWolph's older stuff so it's deterred me from looking at his stuff. I took a look over to his gallery to see if I could find something of Xilimyth and it seems as though it's all been removed. Seems a bit odd artists removes their work like that, does it hurt them in any way by just having them up there?
I'll have to say I'm a bit of a fan of that part of her (hir) as well, the muscle wings at least. It's...not unique really anymore but you don't really see it all that often either. I mean it's not like it'd work or anything with that weight but it'd look quite wierd to have small wings on a big body or vice versa. This one image from Pokkuti shows some nice "wing muscles" I think; http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7293235/
I've actually seen that one in Xilimyth's gallery, I was a bit confused as to why you didn't have it in your own gallery, was it so that he'd get the initial faves/watches from it or something? I'll try my best to CC it when you post it on your gallery either way, it's a bit pointless to do it when it's not on it though I feel. I always fave stuff from the artists gallery persoanlly, they are the ones deserving it after all.

Well, I can't really speak for all artists since everyone have their own reasons why they would remove their older pics. Me, I just go by what I consider to be too sloppy to my self-expecting high standards (if that makes any sense). Some older pics, I'd take down and repost them again considering them as my personal faves or like that of a music artist's album, "The Best of..." type deal. I've taken down quite a handful in that matter to repost again which you already know and have seen being reposted. Of course since most people don't know how to take time to actually search through each page (or put the display settings to 60 per instead of 30) for browsing, I've managed to do the reposting deal. Sad some don't even look through scraps, but hey... kudos for those who do look there. Planning on doing a "surprise hidden submission" someday and make it into a contest or something lol.
I also agree with you on the users' genders and bear the same theory: All are assumed male until proven female. I find it very common since joining FA that most males hide their identity behind female avatars. Why? It beats me, but I can only imagine numerous reasons why though. Strange how a lot of people even fall for the simple identity of an avatar in order to 100% believe that user is a female (but the rude awakening sits behind the keyboard on the other side of the world or across town).
Why I haven't posted the other picture yet of Xili? Simple. When I decided to go on a posting hiatus from FA (considering myself a "watcher" status), I intended to just build up my little library of furry art for 2011 and take some older pics from the previous years to add the posting count up. Next, I scheduled my postings, planning what day I post pics, what pics will be posted that day, and how many per week/month. I did a lot of sorting last year breaking some categories down like making sure I don't post a pic of Gun Bunny two weeks in a row. Instead, I'll have another pic posted to alternate Gun Bunny's postings. Stuff like that. So far, my accountability shows that I have enough postings to last for the remainder of this year at this rate posting one pic twice a week. That's only counting pics dated from last year on back. I've drawn one sketch for 2012 so far, but in the future, the numbers will certainly rise without a doubt. As far as my count on Deviant Art, I've calculated four years worth of pics I would like to share at the same rate. Mainly because I have a lot of human artwork and sketches of my OCs. XD

makes me sorts of wonder what you did to get that ordered for ya, myself it was prolonged exposure to the exciting world of PC games when I was a rowdy nerd in my 15's Ah so sleepy yet I always woke up when the sun hit my face in the morning, that game was far too addictive for my sleep schedule...now my significant other holds that position as sleep ruiner lols xD
you know when you said that people normally don't know how to browse properly my mind went all up in gear and to "prove to myself" that I knew how to I went back to docwolph's site, went through it meticulusy but still couldn't find anything regarding Xilimyth, so then when I was about to think "I didn't do anything wrong there's nothing he's posted up relating to her." I see a tiny line on his main page that said "Comission account: " and I went there and THEN I found like 6-8 pictures relating to her. So super derp me I take that back that he doesn't have anything of her up anymore. ^^;; Another thing I've noticed is that he's drastically changed his style of musculature from making them very sleek but totally over the top (with like 20-30 sets of abs or the likes) and mega vein-y he makes them now much more bulky and less vains. Which is much better in my view, I never preferred the kind of artists who overdid the veins like they were a plant or something. But yeah I digress.
There's quite a number of reasons I believe, I find for the most part that these people often have a female or hermaphrodite fursona (as they tend to be on our avatars after all) and so the question becomes rather why a lot of males have characters representing them while being of an alternative sex, and there can be a number of reasons behind that as well. Could for instance be psychological like they identify more with females, that they feel they desire a social position (usually submissive in sexual relations) that is mostly held by females and they still wish to fit into the social pattern (this is howver rarely the case of furries since we tend to be very open about our sexuality and there's little to no stigma when it comes to preferred sexual orientation), could be the obvious that they desire to be females. These examples though doesn't hold up if the person is just being a douche and want to troll others. About the hermaphrodites I heard a rather interesting thing on a journal post a few years back that seems to make sense, pretty much what this person said was that;
"Men are empathic about sex, why do you think men are supposed to "pleasure their woman" and failiure to do so makes you somehow less of a man because you're not good in bed? On that basis that they want their partner to experience the pleasure that they are and what is the thing males experience as the most pleasuring during intercourse? Yeap orgasm obviously, it's the same with females of coarse but a male doesn't understand how a female orgasm feels like so they relate to what they know. But males are still males and want to also have the female parts of their partner which they are attracted to, so fantasy herms fulfills both of these roles in which a man can both identify to, yet still has the characteristics that makes him interested in her/him/hir."
heh pretty clever strategy to keep your watchers there fella. Though I imagien it's pretty standard amongst artists to do something like that, still pretty dang smart if you ask me, very methodical and keeps your watch base. you just need to make sure you upload enough of the things your watchers wants to see and perhaps just reposted old ones won't sit too well with them? I know I'd be a bit miffed if an artist reposted the same thing I had already faved once before but he had removed because then I had to take time and remove it from my fav collection (which on FA is quite annoying since the page always flips you back to the start once you've removed one picture so you need to like remember what fav page you were on and type in /page number in the search field text to come back to where you were....quite a pain just to get it all back to around how it used to look if you ask me). But that's what I think.
