This was a rather nice find. This is a true antique, it is northern bamboo, and from what i can discern as a brass/bronze hybrid metal with beautiful etchings towards the stem. The top piece shows well use from the dents and dings from the previous owner/owners of this pipe.

heh I saw like 10-15 of this type at the antique fair. This was the most beautiful and well priced one I saw there. One stall was sellign a massive one (coulda been used as a club) for like 20,000 yen. I looked at him like he was crazy said 'gomenesai' (meaning "i'm sorry") and walked away.
