Prize art for
psion for participating in my fan art contest of his character Rivetgal who seems to be a gadgeteer type superhero. She's a golden retriever with an advanced battlesuit and a lot of gadgets to help her out. Her costume is supposed to be similar to a SWAT unit's or police outfit in color so I went with that.

Excuse me... *runs around his house squealing with glee for a few minutes* Okay back, well I got to say this came out much, much better then I hope/feared. I have a horrible habit of second-guessing myself and one of the previous color jobs you had to work with (you know which one) hasn't done much for my self-confidence.
Anyway, onto the technical bits. The belt buckle is an interesting touch, don't think I originally had her buckle anything special but I think I like the idea of making it match the decal on her shoulder pads. I was wondering if you'd skip out on drawing her Rivetgun and well, got to say that was a good move as I would probably be very little help in describing it. The red tint on the visor is another detail I might end up yoinking, I always just pictured her helmet having a polarized black tint. Overall I got to say that... yeah despite nitpicking I'm still squealing with joy over this. Do you mind if I post this?
Now for the character. Rivetgal was created to be pretty much a Captain America type figure in my superverse. And at some point I got the questionably bright idea to make her a heroic descendent of Rosie the Riveter (who in this verse was an accomplished inventor) hence the heroic "Rivetgal" legacy. As for her costume, it was originally inspired/derived by the Peacekeepers from Red Alert 3 so SWAT or police officer is a pretty good comparison.
