They'd met at the local watering hole where Cynthia, the female grizzly, had picked Saul, a strapping young salmon, up. Many figured the relationship wouldn't last. Most such pairings didn't work out but Saul loved his bear hugs and he definitely wasn't a cold fish in (or out for that matter) of bed as far as Cynthia was concerned. As everyone else finally realized that Saul and Cynthia were obviously meant for one another, talk got around to speculating about cubs. When the subject was broached to the couple, Saul always quipped that kids would be the end of him but Cynthia gave a shudder and quickly changed the subject. Sure she wanted cubs but she loved her Saul more.
Just an odd little concept I had this morning that I wanted to post before images of salmon and grizzly bear anthros mysteriously popped up everywhere.

The way I was thinking of the situation, neither of them knows for sure he will die afterward but after hearing stories about other salmon, they don't really want to risk it. About that last part, I got to thinking about artificial impregnation techniques and how that could play a part in a hybrid. I'm not sure if I'm up to drawing one though.
