Itty bitty mini models just right for that whimsical touch on a cake from the kitchens of
Miyabitacheetah
Teeny weeny fondant piggies. These guys and the roses are no bigger than the tip of your thumb. Yeah, I would do anything for a better camera right now. They would just be too cute well photographed. Completely edible, and could be kept to decorate a cake, long as they were kept sterile.
Here is the Fondant recipe, real quickly for ya.
1 large bag of marshmallows
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon vanilla, or preferred flabur
2 pounds of powdered sugar.
So, has anyone ever made clay? That's exactly what you are doing here.Melt the marshmallows in the microwave, just until they are all kind of joined in one mass marshmallow orgy. Slowly add powdered sugar until you get a stiff batter. You can keep adding sugar from here, but I like to scoop it out with my hands and knead it like clay with powdered sugar being alternately worked into it, until it resembles a solid form.
I would make the colors you want in separate batches, but you can also make all white, and knead colors into the fondant later.
On an artists note: This stuff works a lot like silly putty when warm, and play-doh when its just being started with. It sticks with moisture, and adding more powdered sugar will keep it from sticking. If you want to build and add pieces to a dried piece, brush it with water and use the water like a glue!
