This one is about a very abstract, surrealistic and strange thought i had some years ago when i been watching the credits from a very known disney movie and listening the Elton john version of the theme "can you feel the love tonight" that last phrase in the lyric is something i never been able to complete understan at all what it supposed to mean until today >XD.
I wondered if he meant that lions and hyenas should stop fighting, geting along and make love instead of war.... which it isnt a bad idea at all now that i think....

I never understood the lyrics to the song either... course I never really listened. I just remember being repulsed by that song as a child cuz I was in the gurls r grody phase and I remember some adults would actually get it on to this one.

I could be wrong on this, but I thought the line "...kings and vagabonds..." refers to Simba, personally. Born and raised to be a king, reduced to a vagabond, and now given hope that he could be a king again. IE, to believe that the very best future could be his, or that he could become the very best, the king.

Hey! good one! i didnt think about that, though when he sings "Kings and vagabonds" it sounded for me like he were talking about two persons or two different group of persons, not about a single one, but now that you say, it makes a good sense, maybe that´s the meaning of that line in the song after all.

I always did like the idea of lions and hyenas getting along like that. I used to want to write a story about a lioness who fell in love with a hyena during the occupation of Pride Rock and followed them when they left. Of course, I actually DID write a story about a lioness that married a meerkat, and then thought about doing something with a meerkat girl in love with a hyena male. I guess I just love interspecies.
A similar story. For years, I heard people go about a certain actor who was most famous for playing Robin Hood in the film. At the time, the only Robin Hood film I knew was the Disney one with the fox.
Years later I learned I wasn't the only person confused by this as a child. As someone else said, "But Robin Hood is a fox?".

Bueno, mi opinion es:
1º: La canción "Can you feel the love tonigh" de la película es una versión bastante modificada de la original de Elton John. Así que la versión original no tiene por que referirse a leones y a hienas.
2º: Aunque así fuera, lo de "...to make kings and vagabonds believe the very best" quiere decir que tanto unos como otros pueden enamorarse (dos hienas pueden enamorarse al igual q un león y una leona). Pero no creo que se refiera a una orgía entre especies XD XD aunque parece q a mucha gente le ha gustado la idea, jaja XD
Por cierto, C.O.M.I.C. S.T.R.I.P., no era ese programa con los "Tigersharks" y no se que más??

there's no reason the lions and hyenas can't get along, sure Lions take the best prey and leave the hyenas to scavenge their leftovers, but then hyenas are much smaller than lions plus they save energy by not having to hunt for themselves so it's plenty. Of course the theme of the movie doesn't hold up quite so well if you put too much thought into it. But it makes sense again if you put EVEN MORE thought into it after that!

They aren't living in a country with subsidized farming and stuff, they live on the African savanna with limited resources and he TOTALLY broke the food chain, so yeah he IS a bad guy.
