Breaking news from Ambivalent Press! A local Boston favorite, alt/dreampop/electronic/sludge rock band EPICENTRE is back!
This recent photograph all but confirms the tension between members in the past has been resolved and the band is back in full strength, despite the loss of their original drummer, Lucy. A large-scale reunion show is scheduled for March 1st at The Middle East in Cambridge, MA followed by a surprise show the following night at a venue within Boston. Tickets just went on sale so follow the link at the bottom of the page to get yours before they sell out, as they're sure to do. Opening acts are being kept under wraps until the night before, but EPICENTRE confirms many familiar faces.
For those of our younger readers or any with a poor memory, a quick reintroduction to the band may be in order. From right to left
bass-- Maylene Taylor: Southern-born rocker who has reportedly successfully ended a short series of rehab visits. Her poison was unknown but singer and keyboardist St. Germain was very vocal about Taylor's condition. When EPICENTRE was just starting out, Taylor was the breakout performer, often stealing the show with her antics. She appears to have matured quite a bit but this reporter can't help but feel there's still a lot of energy in there.
guitar-- Mae Volkova: Though she had finally appeared to be breaking out in the modeling business, her affection for bassist Taylor brought her back to the band. They are rumored to be dating, despite claims from friends of Taylor that she is strictly heterosexual. Volkova shows far more confidence than one would recall from older shows where she came off as timid. It suits a beauty like her, this reporter states.
vocals/keys-- Catherine St. Germain: Versatile, professional, and supremely talented, St. Germain's choice to display the same eye-patch as the one she wore the day after her final show is reportedly out of love. As she said in our recent interview, "I lost my eye to [Taylor] and this patch was all I had to remember her by for a long time. I won't change it."
drums-- Piper Quinn: this Irish-born, English-raised amateur fashion designer joined EPICENTRE recently through her friendship with Volkova. Her talent level and citizenship status are unknown, but our UK fans tell us via Twitter that she was once the drummer for Vanguard Victorious under a pseudonym. If these claims prove accurate, then this reporter personally promises there will be no disappointments.
