Rip my head off?
Discord’s body collected itself in a swirling mass of flesh and blackness in the middle of the abandoned street. Her glowing white eyes settled on Samhain and a smile played her lips. Samhain scowled. He firmly stood his ground, drawing no closer nor further from her, and balled his fingers into shaking fists.
Firefly lay motionless at Discord’s feet, and Discord none-too-gently moved Firefly to the side with her foot.
“Bitch,” Samhain growled low, deep from in his chest.
“Aww,” Discord said. “Poor little Samhain is agitated. I killed his pet.”
“Don’t say another fucking word,” Samhain said, his voice raising into a quiet shout.
“Or what? You shall ‘rip my head off?’ I’m sure you will.”
“You have no idea.”
“Oooh, how threatening.” She stepped over Firefly’s body. She approached Samhain, her walk slow and sultry. “It’s just the cycle of life, Samhain,” she continued. “But you know all about that.”
She stopped right in front of him, the several yards that separated them seeming nothing more than a distant thought. Her ooze-like hair dripped over her shoulders and brushed against his face. It left him feeling sticky. He shuddered and rubbed his hands against his pants, wiping off the feeling in his mind.
“So, how about it? Rip off my head.”
“With pleasure,” Samhain said between gritted teeth as he swiftly reached out and grabbed Discord’s collar bone. His hands sunk into her chest, unable to latch onto anything solid, and he stumbled forward. Her flesh stuck to him like syrup, and it squelched as he pulled himself from its suction grip.
“My head is still attached, Samhain,” Discord taunted and giggled. Her eyes opened wide, the glowing centers lighting up her face in the night. As she cackled, the stitches lining her cheeks began to rip, and the corners of her mouth opened to the base of her ears. Strings danced from the holes in her lips, swinging back and forth as she did. Although her eyes were void of pupils and irises, they seemed fixated on Samhain. “Or perhaps you truly are bad at keeping promises.”
This is sort of another version of Good Luck Sleeping Tonight. I like to revise it from time to time to mark my improvements. It's always fun.
