I've been running my mother around this week with her Doctor's Appt and today I had some time in the lobby to sit and start something.
I've finished the Hunger Games Series and I'm pretty sure this is inspired by that...but its hard to really say. All I can say is wow about the series.
Az and I discussed doing a movie poster theme with me as Katniss, him as Peeta but at the moment I really don't think I could do the actual characters justice.
In the last book, there's a huge symbol, the Mockingjay which if you've read the first book you know what it is, if you haven't read anything, then I won't explain it because its a long explanation haha. Katniss is the main character and her symbol even in the first book is the Mockingjay.
But every time Katniss was around, she never struck me as one. She gets into lots of trouble, a lot and it isn't really her doing BUT I can think of is she's more like a phoenix. She keeps getting back up even though you think she's dead several times. And she is known as the girl on fire.
So she seems more of a phoenix to me HAHA. I really don't know if she's lying down or in the air, or if the wings and feathers are attached or a costume...hard for me to really talk much more about it besides it is an emotional piece.
All mine. About 6 hours of work (mostly the coloring).

Its really, VERY hard to get feathers of any type to look good, but here you've got all kinds, back and forth, looking just super. I envy that kind'a talent, and in color to boot! I'm really digging the flame bikini too, it's naughty but not showing anything it shouldn't. ;)
The coloring is really good too, very smooth and flowing. The crown is JUST AMAZERING too, I could see this being a full-on dress or something, if you ever expanded it into an outfit. But, I love fancy-headdresses. Just lookit my FACE, haha! XD

I've been hearing a lot about the Hunger Games, my future Mother-inlaw was reading the first one and telling me about it, sounds interesting. And your observation really makes me more interested now :3
And I REALLY like how this came out, it's really pretty, vibrant and you did the wings and feathers wonderfully! :3

The first book is really good. But be prepared, they're SUPER intense and REALLY hard to put down. You can read the first one on its own and it will stand alone, but i found it very hard not to know what happens next O_____O
and thank you!! I need to go back and do some traditional ink and colored pencil work. It seems to be one of my stronger mediums.
