flare the ends maybe?

its not the shape thats an issue, its that no adhesive wants to bond to the urethane. Its not an issue in feet, because theres so much surface area they can just be sewn in, but for handpaws it's a huge hassle.

Sounds like you need to experiment with some military grade adhesives...
I know nothing about urethane personally, I work with clay, but maybe this will help?

Nice. Thanks for the link! I'm'a check em out right now :) I usually work with clay and just hot glue/E6000 them straight to the fur without issues, so not being able to do that = a huge downer.

On my cheshire cat feetpaws, I ended up drilling a very small hole in the sculpey claws and securing them with a stainless steel sheet metal screw and washer. The only problem with this is that you'd want to have some padding over that as well otherwise it would probably be uncomfortable.

well, you could bolt/screw them
some small machine screws with washer, drill into the backside of the claw and clap the fur with the washer

Well the problem is that the back end of the claw will be in contact with the tip of a finger, and the only way i could see sticking a screw in while it was casting is by sticking the head of the screw in, which leaves a nasty sharp bit at the end there to tear your finger up with. I could cover it with epoxy or something but that would pretty much destroy the idea of having glovelike fingers, since you'd need an extra half inch per finger.

But I found a solution last night while experimenting :D Thanks for your input!

perhaps make a second set of finger-caps. then use a flush-set screw to sandwich the fabric between the two. that also reinforces control of the claws so they are rigid to the fingers instead of just flopping.

Do what a friend of mine did to mount new teeth into my head. Drive a small screw or something into the claw, giving you something to allow the glue to adhere to. It's not perfect, but it could work.
