This here is a little piece of gift-art for *WolfPearl (aka Papermonkey). Along with all her other awesome-arts, and a webcomic, she has these amazing creations she calls triaformica (the guy on the left), and we've been having some totally-cool geeky conversations about them. (Although to me, all geeky conversations are totally cool conversations.)
So I've been doodling trias all over the place, and they are such a fun challenge to draw! *WolfPearl really has given a lot of consideration to their anatomy and physiology, and it's been great fun for me to look through the sketches she has of them in her gallery to figure out how to draw them myself.
This was the first sketch where I really felt like I had a good grasp of their anatomy, so that's why I decided to color it.
Anyways, so I decided to draw a Z-type tria because I love their markings. I was kind of stumped what I should sketch it doing, so I kind of took the lazy way out and just drew in a Xzeejee (one of my own creations) with it.
I would like to think that both my Xzeejees and *WolfPearl's trias are both intelligent, inquisitive, and resourceful enough that if they were to meet each other it would be a pleasant, peaceful meeting. The tria looks like he's a lot more comfortable with the meeting, and that's probably because he comes from a planet where there are a few different dominant species - the Xzeejee looks a little confused by the tria's arms and neck-tubes, but he would never say anything to offend the tria ;)
Did I mention I love the z-type's markings?
Eventually I hope to have a more substantial, more dynamic, more interesting sketch overall to fix up in Photoshop but for now this will have to do.
