I know this isn't the intent, but that actually reminds me of a scene from Progress.
There's a bit where Luna reminisces about a hunter of old, from near the beginning of the country, who said he could catch her moon.
He kept trying with nets, traps, the whole works. And of course, since the moon is a very long way away it always failed.
Then, one night, he came to her with a bucket of water, and pointed out the reflection.
On finishing the tale, she said he'd managed to catch her a while ago.

Most of Progress is a lot sillier - it's where the idea of Luna's Abacus came from, for example, and the first chapter has her accidentally overreacting to popcorn to the point she blasts the microwave through a wall.
The concept is that it's Luna getting used to the modern world. Hilarity Ensues.

I would recommend it very much. Most of it as it stands was written pre-Luna Eclipsed, though.
