Looking out with cruel, icy eyes, she grinned at the snow. It was beginning... Soon now, the storm would be here and hide all of the tracks- leaving easier, fresher ones to find. The hunt was on... and she could hardly wait for its icy beginning.

That's pretty much it.
It was a campaign where the DM said "make overpowered combat characters" and we did.
The party was on a quest to obtain a set of armor that was very powerful and rare, and on the way the party got trapped in a fog bank. Sensing that something was amiss, my character, a bit of a hyperactive crazy, casted detect magic. With that, he scanned the fog and noticed that he was able to detect the shape of a flying creature.
Because that's the first thing to do in any situation, his immediate response was to whip out his Rod of Wonder: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItem.....ods.htm#wonder
Because this is the ideal way to alert your friends to danger, he shouted "OH SHIT IT'S A BIRD!" and activated the rod while pointing it in the shape's direction.
Shortly after, the fog cleared, revealing that the source of the aura was in fact a silver dragon. That had been hit by a fireball sent out by the rod. The rod beat the dragon's spell resistance. And the dragon failed the save. And the dragon was vulnerable to fire.
Suffice to say, it was *pissed*.
My character managed to roll a bluff check in the 30s or 40s to convince the dragon that he wasn't the source of the offending fireball. The dragon bought it, but was so angry he decided to attack the party anyway. A fight ensued. The party won.
