I might not be submitting something for a while again so I put this up to tie you all over.
Rex the Magic Hunter - A Ton of Magic Trouble
On the side I have been working on that Rex idea and its coming along well. It will be hand drawn and not pixelated if I decided to go with it.
Basically Rex and a couple of his hunter buddies go out and investigate magical things around the world and even in their own town. But on the side they have to maintain jobs to pay for their "unusual" trips, which really don't go so well and ends up making them broke or worse.
The characters have their own kind of magic which comes in handy especially since they run into other groups who want to use the magic for some kind of evil. So there's a bit of action.
As the story progressess Rex's group ends up getting a little attention in the media and magic starts to directly effect the world around them.
Its a random idea but I would like to give it a try.
As for the characters here its Rex on the left, who looks like this when he's not out hunting. His magic alters his body which comes in handy a few of the times in the series. And the character on the right is Francine, a lioness who is Rex's girlfriend. She doesn't have any magic of her own and in the first episode she starts out normal sized but blimps out near the end because of the magic they have to deal with, thus the title. Its a permanent effect so she ends up this way for the whole series but has super strength mobility despite her gurth.
That's only some stuff I got and I wrote out the first episode. I think I might animate it as flash practice. Wish me luck on that.
So everyone tell me what you think about this and please critique on the details, coloring and whatnot of this pic. And in case I don't see you guys for a while chou until later.
Rex and Francine are my own characters. They can not be used by anyone for any promotional or distributional purposes. 2007
ALSO! If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for the comic by all means let me know. I have someting for the first episode but nothing for future episodes.

I think you've got a really nice idea on your hands. It's good to see you have as much thought about non-expansion work, along with your expansion art. I think this is a nice balance, as you have your fattened character just one in what looks to be a pretty diverse cast. If you ask me, if this is followed through, you could have a really nice project.
On this picture itself, I really like Francine's design, and for more then just her size (which is still nice, mind you :p). She has a distinctive look, which helps her seem like more of a character then just "She's fat. Lawl". I can't wait to see how she acts in this comic. Non-consent gainers can turn out quite fun if portrayed well
If I may make a small suggestion, it may not be a bad idea to add a little more to Rex's look. If he's the main character, you may want to consider helping him stand out just as much as Francine, like a distinct fur pattern or outfit decoration. Granted, I don't know what the other characters look like, or how Rex will act (for all I know, the mild-mannered look was intended), so you can disregard my criticism if need be.
All in all, you're on the right track to a serious hit. If you manage to keep on target, you could take the net by storm. I'll be on pins and needles waiting for any developments on this.
Also, although I can't think of any storylines at this moment, I'll be happy to help if you ever need someone to think up a plot, or bounce yours off of. I'm a sucker for that kinda stuff :D

Thanks so much for all the critique. Man, that's the kind of stuff I need and in search for. I like this kind of attention to my projects and helpful criteria.
Thanks about the compliments on Francine. Its just a character that I wanted to be more like an individual rather than another fat character to draw. She would have to be the most "well rounded" character. *snicker* I'll still be throwing puns around about her though.
Rex's look is quite a unique one I might add. Its not shown here since it is in their regular work place. Rex doesn't use magic so he doesn't transform. (cheezy when said but quite unique comapred to the regular magical transformation) He's supposed to look plain when not magic hunting. He is the most generic looking character in the series compared to the rest of the cast BUT Rex is supposed to represent the normal guy in his own way.
I hope it does work out. Perhaps I can get others together to work on this so it runs smoothly and efficiently.
Thanks for all the support and suggestions. They WILL be used most assuredly. And I look foward to your storyline ideas. Perhaps they will come out when you see more of the characters and stuff I draw for it.

No prob. With a project like this, I'm always happy to throw a few suggestions.
And it's good to see a fat character who was developed with a personality, rather then just a gimmick. Really helps "round out" the community. *rimshot*
Well, if Rex is meant to look normal, then you're good. The average joe is always a nice archetype in stories like this.
Thanks for considering the suggestions. If you ever need help with any aspect of this, I'm always around. And once my inspiration returns, I'll be sure to see what I can think of as far as storylines go

It's always nice to see a character evolve. Coincidently, I actually had a character many years ago who began expansion biased, who then became a non-inflatable character. Some time later, I payed tribute by making another character similar to the original (essentially splitting the two aspects). Funny how that kinda stuff works out
Interesting idea. What I want to know though is what the world is suppose to be like. Is it suppose to be like modern times but magic is starting to appear? Or is it more like medieval times where magic is very common?
As for plot ideas, you could do something like somebody accidentally or purposefully releases a demon and the group has to stop it before it levels the city. And after that you could elude to the possibility of an all powerful creature that'll try to destroy the planet and he/she ends up becoming a recurring villian.

Its a modern age setting. Magic is underground and the series deals with the everyday people in life who are still involved with it.
I like your ideas. Perhaps I would do a strict sotryarch based off a rampaging beast or syndicate. It could be the part of the series where magic gets media attention.
Nice ideas and they will be pndered on and possibly used. I'm looking foward to more ideas and thoughts as time rolls on. ^_^

I like the plot. It is interesting and it can work for a full series manga or animation.
Francine is an interesting character. Although she has gained quite a bit of weight, she is still mobile and looks pretty strong, which means she could join his magic hunting team (if she is already not in it) wielding heavy arms or weapons (If they use any of course) or just be the brute force of the team. She also seems like the person who would insist she wanted to help do something to get herself and others back to normal rather than let others "carry the burden" so to speak while she depends on others.
Rex does look like a pretty normal fur in this pic, which you said that was your intent. He seems like the person you wouldn't expect to be a magic hunter. Also laid back. I get this impression by his expression and the fact that he doesn't seems so surprised by his girlfriend's new size.
Everything else looks cool. I am interested to see what other characters you reveal and more of the story line.

I really want to animate this rather than turn it into a comic so I can practice with that. I got comicing down pretty pact.
You got her spot on to how she is and her many uses. Although the team finds her using her wit more than her gurth. She is definitely the concern always thinking about Rex and what he wants.
He is indeed normal and him looking nothing like a magic hunter is his intent as well as mine. He represents the people of today who look average but are indeed knowledgable of he magical side of the world and act upon that knowledge. He isn't really shocked but is surprised that she gained so much. More will be explained in the actual episode since it focuses partly on that.
Other characters so far is Rex's first team mate who is an armidillo or mole, depending on which design seems more useful and balancing for the team. And the other is a male lion who, in Rex's regular life, always approaches Francine and coaxes her into becoming HIS boyfriend. Runt and squirt comments ensues throughout the series.

His surprise sort of reminds me of a sort of laid back surprise, just going "Woah..." (think Keanu Reeves) x3
And I haven't seen many armadillo or mole characters, which should be interesting to see since they seem to be so rare. To me an armadillo would probably the most defensive one, he would know defensive spells, and carry the most armor and obviously his own tough armor shell.
A mole could specialize in earth magic, seeing as they are known for burrowing and they live underground. Both those characters natural designs interpret what they would be specializing in.
And sort of comedic love triangle is always good for comic relief.

Damn! You are so right about using the armadillo. I could draw some kickass fighting/action scenes with him especially while using earth magic. I feel like drawing a concept sketch for e technique. Thanks HJ.
A love triangle? Heh. There is more than three involved with Rex and Francine. But the armadillo will end up liking a future female character who shows up in the mix later.
I was wondering if you would like to assist with the series. I figured you would want to help on a project anyways. Its not an immediate attention project and I'll send you some scetches I make and script if you like. I want to bring the Two-Ton-Group in on this. It will be good for all of us! >=3 *pumps an arm*

Um... lets see, first there could be some fun with Fracine adjust to her size, if that's not it the first episode. Perhaps later on in the series they could look for relics that are rumored to cure francines condition, but in the end they used to stop a greater evil. These just ideas.
Thanks for the ideas and concept. I'll be working them in possibly. But with my own twists.
They work in an office and Francine is having trouble finding fitting clothes so her outfit seems plain.
I'm just starting this and lots of ideas are being tossed. I think once I got the designs down I'll begin to practice on the type of animation and which frame rate and motion works best for the characters.

Hmm, adventure plus a bit of relationship work. Should prove to be rather interesting from both angles, I would think.
Out of curiousity, is this something that the team has been doing for a long while and have a lot of skill at, or is it more of a deal where they're just getting going, and perhaps don't make the best decisions based on their experience?
Very nice work on her shoulders and hair. It just stands out, for some reason.
