Hello again!
I hope everyone has been enjoying my stories because here is another one.
This is part 1.
France. Home of the world’s finest arts and art museums. The Louvre, just to name one. But France is also home to more than just fine art; it is home to the greatest thief in all of France, Sly Cooper and his gang. It was also the home of the lesser-known thief, Benjamin C. Wolfe and his gang. And of course home to the hot headed officer, Carmelita Fox, as well.
It was growing dark. The street lights flickered on. A shadow darts from rooftop to rooftop. The shadow stopped and gazed up at the building adjacent to the one he was standing on.
The building was police headquarters and within those walls was the prize the shadowed figure sought.
“I'm right outside police headquarters.”
“Good. You need to get on top of the building. From there you should be able to enter in through the ventilation system.”
“Thanks, Bently, I'm on it.”
Yes. The shadowed figure was none other than Sly Cooper.
Sly stepped as far back as he could, than ran straight at the police building. Using the hook on his cane to grab the ledge, he scaled the walls. Opening the ventilation shaft and hopping in, he closed the shaft behind him. The shaft was just tall enough for him to sneak through on his hind feet if he kept his head down. The vent gradually grew larger, large enough for him to stand with ease without the risk of knocking his head against the ceiling. He took one step forward before stopping.
Laser grids appeared out of nowhere. Some of the lasers were moving up and down while other spun in a clockwise or counter clockwise direction.
Sly spoke into his com link. “Bently, Did those schematics of yours say anything about a laser grid defense system being installed into the ventilation system?”
“No!” Was the quick response to his question. “Oh... they must have updated their security. Sorry Sly. All I can do is tell you which way to go. You'll have to get around the defenses yourself.”
“It's not your fault Bently. Just tell me which way to go.”
“Alright. Keep going straight until you see the first opening under your feet.”
“Okay.” Sly takes a deep breath. Than carefully crawls beneath the first laser. He hops over the next and using the momentum from his hop, rolls past the rotating laser. With one final leap he jumps in between the set of lasers that meet in the middle. “I'm at the opening. Now what?”
“Quietly open the hatch and drop down. Carmelita's office is the one with the red door. It should be straight down the hall to the right.” There was a slight pause before Bently finished. “And Sly, be careful.”
“Got it. Bently, I'm always careful.”
“Rendezvous with us in the alley a mile north of police headquarters.”
“Tell Murray to keep the engine running. I'll be there in no time.”
“I hope so.” Bently thought.
Sly quietly dropped down from the vent. Walking to the end of the hall and entering the red door.
Carmelita's office was decent sized. Her desk was covered with images of Cooper...along with one image of a gray furred wolf in black pants and navy blue muscle shirt. Curiously Sly picked up the picture, reading the back of it. “Benjamin Wolfe? I wonder who he is?” Sly placed the picture back where it belonged. He stalked toward his goal. A large red combination safe.
Sly quickly cracked the safe's combination with help from the tech wiz turtle.
What was inside left the racoon shocked. A playing card that had the paw print of a canine on one side and the words 'try again' on the other.
He took the playing card as evidence, hoping that Bently could track this new thief down, and locked the safe. The coon's ears perk. Someone was approaching the door. With the grace of a master thief, Sly quickly climbed out the window, jumped over to the next buildings rooftop, than traveled across the rooftops. Reuniting with his gang a couple minutes later. Jumping into the back of the van.
“Did you get it, Sly?”
“No!” He tossed the playing card at Bently. “Some one beat us to it! We were so close. I almost had the one piece of info that would have led me to my birthright. And just like that.” He snaps his fingers to emphasize the point. “it's gone.”
“Calm down Sly, I'm sure we will be able to get the book back. All we gotta do is figure out who this 'wolf' is.”
Murray throws in his two cents from behind the steering wheel. “And remember. You always got us by your side. No matter what.”
Sly glances at his two best friends. “Thanks.”
(Benjamin strikes first. One hour before Sly's arrival.)
A gray furred wolf wearing black jeans, black combat boots, and blue muscle shirt entered police headquarters. Flashing an FBI badge to the receptionist. “Benjamin Wolfe, FBI, I'm here on important business.”
The female ferret, wearing tan slacks and a button down white shirt. “Hello, Mr. Wolfe. Don't get to many Americans in. Mind if I do a quick background check? It'll only take a couple minutes.”
He hands her his drivers license and badge. “Not at all. Mind if I take a seat?”
“Go right ahead.”
Ben sat down on the chair closest to the ferret. Admiring her beautiful face from his seat.
“So what's a beautiful woman like yourself doing working as a receptionist here? I mean you could be a model, or maybe even a movie star.”
“That's so sweet, but flattery won't make this go any faster.”
“I know. But I am telling you the truth.”
“Oh...” No one had ever said something like that to her before. And he was being honest. She could tell by the look in his eyes. “Thanks.”
She had just finished entering his badge number, waiting for the computers results. The computer beeped, popping up an Image of the wolf along with the same info that was on the badge and drivers license.
“You checked out. Thank you for your patience.” She holds out the badge and drivers license.
He reclaimed them. Entering the elevator just behind the desk. The ferret calls out to him before the doors slide closed. “By the way, my name is, Moka, Moka Flannigan. It was nice talking to you, Americana.”
He used his arm to stop the door from closing completely, replying. “Same to you, madam.”
He allowed the door to close completely. Pressing the button for the floor he needed, he thought to himself 'Mina. I really don't know how you do it. Hacking the computers so my counterfeit ID would pass the security check.'
He enters the floor, seeing the hustle and bustle all around him. The main room had several desks, each being occupied by one person. They were the lowest on the totem pole, performing tasks nobody else likes to do. He walked past the desks, heading for the back hall that lead to the one room he was most interested in.
Ben was stopped by a doberman. The doberman stood as tall as he does, wearing the standard police uniform. “Where do you think you are going?”
Benjamin simply showed the officer his badge. “I'm here on important FBI. Business.”
“Oh... well if there is anything I can do to help, just name it.”
“Could you direct me to, Miss Fox's office.”
“Carmelita's?” The wolf nods. “Alright. Just follow me.”
“I'm curious, what brings an American FBI agent to France?”
“We had a little run in with a devious raccoon that stole something very important. So who better to help me with my investigation than the one officer who has gotten closest to capturing the ringtailed thief?”
The officer led him down the hallway, stopping at a red door on the right.
“This is her office. She 'll be back any moment. So you can just wait in there for now.”
“Thank you.” The officer nodded, walking back to the front so he could continue his menial tasks.
Ben smiled, seeing an image of himself on one corner of her desk amongst the many images of Sly Cooper and his gang, thought 'This is the day that I beat you, Cooper.'
He pressed an ear to the large red safe. Listening as each pin fell into place. It took him a total of five minutes to crack her safe and retrieve his prize. 'Bingo' A large file filled with information on one of the members of the Fiendish Five.
The sound of high-heeled boots echoed down the hall, growing louder. They were getting closer to the door.
“I can't believe an FBI agent wants my help! If I help him capture Cooper, than I will have that promotion in the bag.”
The door swings open. The wolf and fox stare at each other for at least a full minute.
Benjamin Wolfe was the first to speak.
“Hello Love, It's good to see you again.”
The fox pulled her gun. Before she could point it at him he had her pinned to the wall, knocking the gun out of her hand and locking lips with hers.
“I would love to stay and chat, but I have somewhere important to be.”
He pushed her to the ground and made a run for it. Carmelita was on her feet in no time, chasing after him.
Ben pulled a spherical object from his pocket, pressing a button on it and dropping it in the middle of the main room. The device exploded, sending a cloud of smoke everywhere. The first to be covered in the smoke was a chubby female otter, sending her into a sneeze fit. “Hit'Choo! HiH-HiT'choo!”
Soon the whole entire floor had succumb to the smoke, sneezing and coughing.
Carmelita's entire body convulsed. “Ah... Aah... Aaah... HaT'cHOO!” causing her to drop her weapon.
Ben hummed, riding the elevator down to the lobby tucking his prize under his left arm.
On his way out the building, Moka stopped him. “I hope your business went smoothly, Americana.”
“It did, Madam. You have a wonderful night.”
“You to.”
He exited the building, hopping into the drivers seat of a black crown vic with the blacked out windows so no one could see who was inside the car. Driving to the rendezvous.
His burner cell phone rang. He answered, putting it on speaker.
“So was the mission a success?”
“Of course it was Mina. I got my prize and I am on my way to the rendezvous point. See you guys soon.”
“Wonderful. We'll be waiting.”
Ben smirked, glancing at the large file setting in the passengers seat.
'Mission accomplished.'
(I hope you all enjoyed it.)
(Please don't forget to comment. I want to know what you think.)
