Yah, these locomotives had come and gone on the predecessor roads long before Conrail's creation. NYC, Pennsylvania and New Haven all had these Fairbanks Morse engines.

I wish some locomotive manufacturer made a more retro-looking, streamlined diesel locomotive. I hate the way modern ones look, all boxy and bulgey and with handrails on the outside. And while we're on the subject, I miss cabooses, too.

The P42DC isn't bad, but the livery of the locomotive may account for like half of that.

i dont think they are no more expensive than your adverage C40 Dash 8 in NS paint.
